Read this article.
http://au.gamespot.com/news/face-melting-graphics-needed-for-next-gen-says-gears-of-war-dev-6371569
Cliff has always been wearing a money hat for a certain company but this article is hilarious.
In the next-gen I wanna wake up, feed my dead floating goldfish, log onto my PC and use the search engine called Bing to look for GM goldfish, drink a can of decaffeinated cola (endorsed by Marcus) for breakfast, then workout on my gluteus maximus with the aid of Kinect because I dont have the willpower to excersize without a program/peripheral spoon-feeding me motivation. Then Im gonna contact my mom with MSN and let her know I got a promotion at the new MS Casual Lounge, then Im gonna put on a pair of assless chaps and head off to work.
List what you want to do?
Sugar coating the Always On aspect of the next-gen is really gonna fool me. Pure marketing genius that example was. Not.

I think what he really means is...

The following is not a paid announcement. It does not intend to start a console war. Artificial intelligent bots that are data mining for M$ may flag it down, so hopefully your servers which host these forums are not attacked with denial of service.

I figured the suger-coated marketing was covering up the always online DRM aspect of the next-gen console.
Sony is also going that direction next-gen.
Nintendo has not yet commented because its focused on Wii-U which is just a replacement/update for its current-gen console.
I remember when Counterstrike wasnt using Steam to play online.
Then Steam came out and I remember intially there where a lot of upset players as the service intially was not seamless and stress free.
Counterstrike was freeware product initially wasnt it?
Many years later, today Steam is positively received but GFWL DRM is not so positively received, eg. Dark Souls (PC).
M$ in my opinion fucked up the PC industry a while back when they attracted a lot of PC publishers to work (most of the time exclusive) on M$ console platforms and abandon the PC platform. It was insulting how these money hats abandoned the PC then even became exclusive dominions just for M$ console platforms rather than all console platforms.
Now M$ is dishing out GWFL DRM and annoying PC players again.
I dont believe in using DRM to protect game sales (ie. second hand game sales killing the single-player game market).
I believe in releasing a AAA+ every 3 years. (eg. Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 are regarded as AAA+ grade games that where polished before release and did not require continual DLC to fix bugs).
I dont believe in well known publishers releasing games in a franchise every year, because theres a bigger chance the games will not be AAA+ and players will play game once and not keep the game in their library as a keeper but trade it in or sell it off.
Publishers want to milk the market and then complain second-hand sales are killing it? WTF?
Doesnt make sense.
Now we have a Steam Box coming out, an Apple TV service which offers all things digital including casual gaming coming out, Google playing around with Browser Gaming. So much is coming on offer.
I just hate it when corporations pay cross-platform developers/publishers exclusives (to have the edge over the competition) and these developers/publishers wear money hats for said corporations they are bending over for.
Will the Wii-U be the last traditional console to not have DRM?
Guaranteed the Wii 2 will have DRM but I suspect Wii-U will just be a replacement console for Wii offering HD connections and keeping its established Wii userbase seamlessly happy in the transition to move to Wii-U.
I also believe the Wii-U will launch @ $299 but will drop to $250 within months then drop to $199 when the next-gen consoles launch. Which is great value if the tablet offers full adobe flash compatability when browsing online.
Which means the Wii 2 will be the last console to launch next-gen and may test the loyalty of many of the Nintendo bashers (developers & publishers) always complaining about the lack of tech-specs in the last 2 Nintendo consoles.
Assuming Nintendo uses the latest tech when launching last. If it didnt that would be bad publicity despite its philosophy of being the most efficient systems, not the most powerful.
Im not buying the tweaked Baldur's Gate coming out on tablet only because Beamdog is making it. The developer is so unoriginal (developer of ports and with an unoriginal development name that Naughty Dog and Beam Software would laugh at) I will pass on this game.

I think so, yes.
Just posted my thoughts about this in the forum here:
