A new RGH chip based on CR4 XL. Thanks goes to guerrierodipace for the heads up.

Very nice hardware, but I think we don't need a new modchip instead of existing solutions. X360 Run and X360 Ace v2, v3 are more than enough. Another chip is not necessary. Nothing new, just redesigned pcb and a "new" microcontroller. Why ????

We really need any solution for winchester motherboard. REALLY. Yes.

I agree about Winchester, but like any market it's about competition. That's the reason we have hundreds, perhaps thousands of different smartphones to choose from with similar features, not because we need that many.

Exactly.

Before this, the main competitor I saw to this (IMO anyway) were the CR4 Slim (not by TX) and the X360Pro v6 (if only for the AIO glitch/dualnand/nandR&W aspect).

If it sells for anything less than $20 (hell, $15 even), I think the CR4 Slim price will plumet, or it will fall into the shadows.

But there are not that many poeple asking about Winchester. So maybe its not really needed. The xbox 360 has become expensive. On Amazon x360 + Kinect costs more than Xb one without Kinect (or ps4). The Price Gap Old to new is just 15%. No hack for both... How would you choose than? Save maybe 50 or get a new one.

Yeah I like to know also, I got one as sample for a review purpose.

And been trying everything to make it work, so far nothing, zippo.

And I got report from one other person, they got 10 of them and none worked.

So good question what is going on with this one.

I purchased one via one of my favorite ebay sellers (ironically, it comes up in a search for "cr4 slim"). I'll be testing it on my Trinity when it arrives in a few days, and will gladly report back.

EDIT: garyopa, I suspect you already know to do this but... If using JRunner, did you check the CR4 box when creating ecc/glitch image? Also, what version motherboard are you using?

EDIT2: Turns out I have a Corona v3 and a Trinity on hand. I'll test on both

EDIT3: Tested on Trinity, waiting on Postfix adapter for Corona v3. Here is my mini-review:

Unfortunately, when tested on my Trinity, X360 Mega did NOT work. However, please see my updated review at the bottom of this post. My soldering is perfect-- used flux and ensured nice and firm shiny connections. Bundled with five wires; two short red, two medium length yellow, and one long blue. I used red wires for 5v and ground, yellow wires for points A and C (underneath mobo), and blue wire for point D. HDD and DVD drive were disconnected. Should not make a difference, but ROL board was also disconnected. I wrote ecc with CR4 checkbox enabled in JRunner.

In standby, the green onboard LED is dimly lit. Upon powering up (I powered via Guide button using controller connected w/play and charge cable), there appears to be NO change in green LED. It stays dimly lit and does not blink. The fan does spin up, and the controller LEDs keep blinking, waiting for the system to boot. However there is no audio/video signal on my VGA adapter, meaning the console never successfully boots.

In conclusion, this is a great disappointment. X360 Mega is either an elaborate scam, or is victim of extremely poor quality control on the manufacturer's end. At $10 shipped, it's a minor loss, but I must emphasise it is not the fault of the reseller, Moonriver Game Parts. He is simply the messenger-- as the saying goes, "don't shoot the messenger".

I plan to upload a video of my findings to Youtube in the next week and will update my post with it here. I feel there needs to be a honest video on YouTube to compete with the Manufacturer's own videos, where the chip appears to boot quickly and flawlessly. This is far from the truth of my experience, and I hope sharing it will cause a productive and useful response from the manufacturer.

Until the manufacturer takes responsibility for their failure, CR4 XL and CR4 Slim still appear to be king... My CR4 Slim will arrive in 4 days and will effectively replace X360 Mega for good.

EDIT4: Update! X360 Mega WORKS on Corona! Great news for anyone who has, or is considering purchasing this chip. Best part is, it boots within 3 seconds. As for the dimly lit LED goes, that part is normal. It's merely a power LED, and not a debug one. From reading multiple accounts of user installs of X360 Mega, I'm convinced it's just not programmed for trinity. Corona consoles on the other hand should have no issues getting it to boot.

As for my Trinity and CR4 Slim, unfortunately that chip didn't work either for me. It's unknown to me whether this is the fault of my Trinity console or the chips themselves. However I have seen success stories of CR4 Slim on Trinity consoles before, so by no means do I want to discredit it. I'll do some more tweaking around, and may possibly even purchase a CR4 XL to test on my console. If it doesn't work on it, I will do two things: consider my Trinity to be an isolated case of a stubborn console, and toss the CR4 XL in my Falcon console (as it is in need of a chip eventually-- I don't think I want to fiddle with RGH 1.2, as I'm looking for a low maintenance solution).

Thanks for your mini-review. Sadly I only had access to Trinity also.

I suspect that the chip is faulty programming and really only works on Corona boards (at least I hope)

I contacted the wholesale dept for them, and they claim they sold thousands with no complains, and pointed me to check their install diagrams carefully for mistakes.

A friend of mine pointed out to me a little bit ago, that it seems to be 100% the same as this new chip:

http://www.wasabi-360.com/

Which is strange if it really is the Wasabi Team, they were good people and I knew them well during their ODE days, but they operated from http://www.wasabi360.com and stop doing the ODE for a while now and have not heard from them for a while.

Even tho the new site looks similar, same logo, and even has the old ODE files available for download, it could be attempt to 'steal' off a known good brand-name no longer active in a attempt to make sales better.

So far not very good signs at all.

Funny thing about that-- X360 Mega's official reseller, Shop01Media even claims they are the same chips. Whatever the relationship between the two, it's certainly weird.

I hope you're right about X360 Mega and Corona boards-- if that's the case, then there's possibility they can be reprogrammed to work properly. Question is whether we will see a release of the official programmer, or if a homebrewed solution comes to light.

Lastly, sometime after Monday night, I'll receive my Postfix adapter. As such, I'll install and report my findings once again. As a fun little bonus, I will also have a CR4 Slim to compare it to
. Hoping for the best!

EDIT: User below this post is referring to a comment I made here:
http://www.teamx360.co.uk/showthread.php?3881-X360-MEGA-V1-0-announced&p=24349&viewfull=1#post24349

Seems he managed to get a X360 Mega working on Corona.

I think you're probably referring to me as the user who posted on Youtube. I have successfully installed this chip in about 7 different consoles now. Unfortunately I have yet to do one on a trinity as the last few trinity installs I've had the customer included the chip (CR4, slim proto, etc) I haven't had any issues getting it to boot on the various corona v1-v6 that I've done.

If you want some more details and pics check out this thread here:

If you go by Antonio L on youtube, then yes, I believe you are correct.

I'm thrilled to hear X360 Mega hasn't been a flop for everyone-- seems there may be a chance I can make use of mine after all. Still, X360 Mega team should take responsibility for their fault on Trinity consoles. At this point I'm assuming that these chips simply are not programmed properly for them. They should not be advertising compatibility with Trinity if this is the case.

As I stated previously, I'll be comparing X360 Mega with CR4 Slim tomorrow evening. It will be interesting to see if the CR4 Slim works on both Trinity and Corona...

I've installed the cr4 slim on a trinity and I don't think you'll have any trouble. At least I didn't. I have a trinity coming in a day or so and I'll attempt to install with the x360 mega and post my results too.

Well, results are in for X360 Mega and Corona-- It works! And within 3 second boot too. So it seems X360 Mega isn't a scam, just has poor quality control in regards to Trinity compatibility. I used google translate on a few spanish news websites and found others seem to have issues with getting it to work on Trinity as well. This may be a coincidence, but nearly all Corona installs I've read about worked no problems.

As for the CR4 Slim goes, seems my Trinity didn't like that chip either. So I'm not sure what to make of it at this point-- It's either the console or the chips. Unfortunately the only other Trinity I had got fried from a power surge, so I'm all out of test consoles. Hope you have better luck than I did!

As for my mini review of X360 Mega, I'm going to update it to fairly represent the chip's performance. I'm relieved it isn't a total dud-- These chips make for a very inexpensive mod. If they worked consistently on slim consoles, I'd reccomend it to everyone in the market for a glitch chip.
