Official site: http://www.nintendo.com/switch/

That awkward time when media hype and bloated expectations meets reality is upon us as Nintendo Switch launches world wide. Plenty of mainstream headlines out there to choose from, ranging between positive to negative, and some with a bit of both. Also, it wouldn't be a proper launch without customers lining up outside the brick and mortar stores. Personally I'm more interested in what the hacking community can do for Nintendo Switch (as mentioned in previous story), and after checking Twitter today it seems the usual ninty suspects either got the Switch already or just ordered one.

Let the hacking begin! ;D

looks like there is few ways to browse the web without big 'N' officially allowing it:

http://www.maxconsole.com/threads/facebook-and-twitter-almost-works-on-switch-without-a-web-browser.44091/

And second way is:

Quote:

Here is a small set of instructions I quickly typed up to access that hidden browser. It makes use of Charles Proxy and Apache, but I'm sure that when the thing they made in Visual Studio gets released, this won't be neccessary anymore...
If similar instructions were already posted, I do apologize in advance!

1) Set up and install Charles Proxy + Apache server if you haven't already, then open Charles proxy only.
2) Grab the index.html from the SwitchDNS repo that 'Temp member parrotgeek1 kindly set up for us. Place this html file into the "www" folder of your apache installation.
3) On your Switch, go to Settings -> Internet Settings -> YourConnectedRouter -> Change Settings, and turn Proxy Settings on. Use your PC's local IP address as the server, and use the port number configured in Apache (default is 80) as the port number. When done, you can open up apache on your PC.
(To change this port, if for some reason it doesn't work, change all instances of ":80" in 'httpd.conf' and 'httpd-vhosts.conf' to a different port number, such as ":1337".)
4) Now save your settings, and test your connection. If everything went smoothly, you should see that Charles will ask if your Switch's IP address should be allowed to connect. Click 'Yes/Allow', and you should see "http://conntest.nintendowifi.net" pop up on the left-hand side of the window. Right-click on it, and select "map remote".
5) In the 'map to' section of the window, type "http" in the protocol field, then your PC's local IP address in the host field, and the port number you configured for apache in the port field. Then click "OK".
6) Choose "test connection" again on the Switch. The connection should now fail, but when you click off the message, you should now be redirected to the index.html page hosted on your PC, through the hidden web browser!
7) Now enter a link to a page (such as https://google.co.uk or something; it can be anything really) and now it should take you to that page you requested

https://youtu.be/yvSZtnIbz9k

Of course no big deal, but it might be if this can be 'exploited' have your PC loading in 'web page' that has 'sandbox hack' in it similar to what was done on Wii U and 3DS

Sadly, the Switch is locking down MicroSD cards, once you use it on your Switch, you need to reformat it to use it on another Switch.

Quote:

Polygon has pointed out all the various problems, which amount to a system thatís significantly more locked down than the competition. It seems as though Nintendo wants to limit everything to a single console rather than to your online Nintendo account ó which could make life a bit more difficult if you lose your Switch or happen to want to use a friendís.

Here are the three main problems:

  • When you save your game, it only can be saved to local storage. You canít move the save file to a microSD card and itís not uploaded into the cloud. So if youíre 40 hours into Zelda and lose your console, youíre fresh out of luck and will have to start over.
  • You canít take a microSD card out of one Switch and put it in another one ó as far as Nintendoís concerned, it has to be reformatted. This presumably makes it harder for people to pirate games ó but it also means that you canít take your downloaded games and just play them on another console, even if you log in with your account.
  • Downloaded games are locked to one console at a time. Even if you log in to another console, you canít download and play your eShop-purchase games unless you deregister your other console and activate the new one.

That last part might not seem like a big deal, but is does mean that if you lose your Switch (or it gets stolen), you have to call Nintendo and have the company deregister your old device before you can download them again. And even then, your save files are kaput.

Perhaps they are restrictive regarding the saves to prevent cheating rather than hacking?

BTW:

Looks like the NAND flash in Switch has been dumped.

The header to me looks more like a Vita Sony header, then a Nintendo one, I think this is related to f00d on the Sony, not the Nintendo.

EDIT: - I was wrong, it is Switch dump, and below see my new post about it!

All tho I heard from a friend of mine a private webkit exploit is working already, and they been able to get full ram access and more, so these might be from that.

Well it looks hardware wise its very easy to dump the 32gb nand.

More Info Here: http://www.maxconsole.com/threads/dumping-the-emmc-nand-on-the-nintendo-switch.44105/

Also the devkit has this module as 64gb one. -- Would love to compare the two, and also see if just by swaping a 64gb module from devkit into a retail would work and turn it into devkit, most likely not.

PegaSwitch
by ReSwitched

PegaSwitch is an exploit toolkit for the Nintendo Switch. By taking over WebKit, we are able to read/write memory, call native functions, and otherwise explore the functionality of the Switch from the domain of the WebKit process. This does not currently enable homebrew software, but is built to allow other hackers to work toward that goal.

Haha Nintendo Was Cheap!

No changes, except for outside RAM and internal clockspeeds (which is firmware controlled anyway), and maybe the SecureOS AES128 Silicon key been updated on the die, tests are underway regarding that!

After subsequent processing of the GPU from the Nintendo Switch, we have determined that the processor is the Nvidia Tegra T210. The T210 CPU features 4 Cortex A57 and 4 Cortex A53 processor cores and the GPU is a GM20B Maxell core.
