I finished my first MM3 installation on my PS1,I put everything back together and put in a burned disc. It went to the cd player that was normal. But when i try to put in a legit game it goes either to the cd player or "Please insert Playstation CD-ROM" I used this diagram

That seems strange, perhaps some other problem with the installation. Attach photos of the board you are modding so I can check it.

The install board point 1 looks like a bad solder joint, but it's hard to tell on the photo, at least you found the right points according to diagram. I assume you isolated the MM3 (PIC12C508A) with some electrical tape before screwing it back together?

Also noted you got way too much solder on the PIC12C508A chip, pins 2 and 3 looks shorted together, but could be the camera angle. The problem is not just the excessive solder, but heating the chip pins too long can damage the chip.

I agree with robert, it looks like two of the pins are bridged together. Take the solder off those pins with desoldering braid or a solder sucker and redo them. In regards to overheating the chip, one trick you can do to avoid this, is hold the chip on another pin using a pair of needlenose pliers. The pliers will act as a heatsink and pull some of the heat away from the chip.

It turns out I overheated the chip, since I used 45 watts rather than 15. I have a psx arriving in the mail as well as a new modchip.

Ok, ya next time stick with a 15 watt and use the heat sink trick and you should be ok.
