I have mixed feelings about these old exploits which were kept private and never released at the time.

Sure, it's interesting to read now how it was done, impressive achievement, yet sad that no one had the balls to release anything useful when the exploit actually meant something. Also, someone over at fail0verflow just happened to post this after qwertyoruiopz reports his PS4 kernel code exec on firmware 5.00?

Anyway, enough ranting, you can read the technical post with all the details over at fail0verflow.com where all the cool exploits are found first (but never released until defunct).

Hmmmmm... honestly releasing a Linux loader within itself, wouldn t enable backup loading/piracy of ps4 games so I don't get why they're afraid to release it for later fw' s. It would simply provide an environment for users to run unsigned code as well as developers to write it. Sure Sony would block it with another update but for ppl who are interested in this sort of thing eod find a way to block/bypass said updates. Even if they're a some sort of geohot like situation again (someone using Linux to ultimately gain access to private keys and leaking them) team f0f wouldn t be liable for that. Sony would pursue whoever did it. Legally (at least in most countries) releasing a Linux loader and/or exploiting a closed platform system for unsigned code is perfectly fine. The end user just forfeits their warranty etc.
