I have the K150 programmer with chips 12C508A
I am using Micobrn to program with the One Chip hex file from Eurasia

I can read the new chips however when I try to write the One Chip Hex file I get the error

Received Data Error about to apply Reset

I have tried this with Windows 7 and also on a windows 10 pc both with the same results.

I am using the correct com post as I can read the chip.

Im stuck for help and spent a lot of time using google with no luck.

I would be very grateful for some assistance and your help

Thank you.

What kind of power supply are you using with the K150? You need at least 16V at 1A when programming (writing) PIC12C508A.

I was using the programmer from USB, I have seen many tutorials and this works fine for others.
Should I try a different chip type ?

The K150 requires external power supply.

I wasn't aware of this, Seen many other work fine from USB. Any pointers in connecting up an external supply.

The original K150 from kitsrus.com looks like this.

As you can see it has a power connector next to the USB port.

After searching around it looks like the K150 clones out there now don't even bother adding that power connector so I'm assuming they are using a voltage regulator (or similar) in the design, and perhaps missed (or ignored) the fact that PIC12C508A actually needs 13V during program/write on pin 4 (Vpp), but not when dumping/reading, then it's just 5V.
