modrobert writes: "I stumbled across this news post over at gbatemp.net, but it's all over the place. Quote: 'Project PlayStation Input Output has been trying to load PlayStation 1 game images through the game system's parallel I/O port since 2010, and now it's ready to show off the first prototype.' You can find more info in this forum topic here at EurAsia. A quick observation; this will only work solderless for the first generation of PSX consoles, not SCPH-900x or PSone which lacks the parallel I/O port. The goal is an SD card solution, they've given up on hard drive support it seems."

[source: BuZz @ xbmc4xbox.org.uk] The upcoming 3.3 version of XBMC4Xbox has now reached a point where it should be stable for every day use, and can be put through more testing by end users.

[source: Team 3k3y @ FB] 3k3y SATA is now ready!
After months of testing 3k3y SATA is now in production. All SATA models can be supported by various daughter boards. At this time the first daughterboard supports the following models:
-Fat PS3s, CECHL onwards
-20xx/21xx Slims
3.55 is still required for key extraction but we have made some interesting finds which may eventually lead to key extraction directly from the drive.

[source: marcan @ fail0verflow.com] It’s been almost 7 years since the Wii was released. Back in 2006, not many owned a living room PC. PCs were still relatively bulky, and the Chinese offerings were limited to horrible media players. At the time, the prospect of having a game console double as a HTPC and being able to browse the web, play games for older platforms with emulation, and run homebrew games on a device which you already had in the living room was rather appealing. Fast forward to today. Mobile SoCs have made huge advances - you can get a quad-core chip in a phone these days - and have made the jump to the living room. Spend $25 and you can get a Raspberry Pi, which is about on par with the Wii at 1/10 of the launch price and 1/7th of the power consumption (with HD video). Spend $100 and you can get an Ouya, which beats the Wii U’s CPU and doesn’t have too shabby graphics at one third the cost. These mobile-derived devices aren’t quite a replacement for game consoles yet, but they’re catching up fast. They’re cheap enough that they’re almost disposable. The software ecosystem is much larger and wider than any console has ever had. More importantly, they’re open, and the development tools and environments are way better for open development than any game console ever was.

[source: wololo.net] We've mentioned hacker YifanLu several times on this blog, being that he is one of the handful of people believed to be in possession of a "native" vita hack (I put "native" in quotes here, as I mean per opposition to a hack in the psp emulator, but I don't want people to assume he has a hack available in the Vita's firmware code). Today Yifan Lu released a beta version of his new tool: a full open source alternative to Sony's Content Manager Assistant for the Vita. The CMA is a tool divided in two parts: a server running on your ps Vita, and a client running on your computer (or your PS3, as a matter of fact). For those of you who just joined us, there are many reasons to hate Sony's CMA, from a hacker's perspective but more importantly from a customer’s perspective (see my article on CMA and privacy concerns). Also, last time I checked, that tool is not available for Linux, only for Mac and Windows.

[source: emu_kidid @ gc-forever.com] For those of you who didn't know, Swiss is now auto booting on Wiikey Fusion thanks to the latest discoveries from megalomaniac and everyone else involved. What does this mean for WKF users? It means that we can now have a GameCube which will power on straight to Swiss to browse the SD card without needing to install a toggle switch/button on pin 29. Additionally with a MegaDrive PCB installation kit, it's very easy to set up your GameCube with a Wiikey Fusion (boot Swiss, backups from SDGecko/WKF SD Slot, etc, and through that, homebrew / emulators / etc) and still keep your original DVD drive installed and fully functional!

[source: cobra-ode.com] We're pleased to present pictures of the final Cobra ODE hardware - Main PCB assembly. As you can see there are two switches which enable configuration of PATA (FAT consoles)/SATA (FAT CECHL consoles) and 2k,2k5k,3k and 4k series slim and super slim consoles. Cobra ODE is the first truly universal PS3 ODE bringing maximum convenience to end users and resellers alike. As you can see we've designed everything to be connected via FFC cables directly between ODE and console or console, ODE and daughter boards in the case of the 2k5,3k and 4k series consoles. A great deal of effort and time has been put into designing a system with best performance and maximum convenience for installation. We're working hard on the finalization of the software, stay tuned for further information....

[source: wololo.net] The highly anticipated Custom Emulator Firmware TN-V from Total_Noob is finally here! TN-V brings the XMB experience to the Vita and has been in development for over half a year, and is finally ready to be released. The goal was to bring a full PSP CFW to Vita and its been finally accomplished. TN-V supports ALL exploits we have ever released and will support any future kernel exploits that happen to get released, but remember that there’s a small chance of one being released anytime soon considering the rarity of them. The next release will probably be VHBL which doesn’t support TN-V and can only do emulators and homebrew.

modrobert writes: "Hackers remaining anonymous have released ECC files for Xbox 360 consoles updated past dashboard 15572 which renders the DGX product line from Team Xecuter useless. You can now flash the corresponding ECC file to the console NAND flash and use a glitcher to retrieve the CPU key instead, no additional hardware needed. Team Xecuter's rather humorous response to the release is to repurpose the expensive DGX hardware as a high performance glitcher. Thanks goes to pulz for the heads up. Read on for DGX R.I.P. release info..."
