EurAsia hosting fee October 2018 - April 2019
site info modrobert writes: "I really dislike asking for support, but we have once again reached a point where the profits from the online shop isn't enough to cover the upcoming hosting fee for the six month period October 2018 - April 2019 which is 540 total. If you feel like supporting the EurAsia website, you can do so by paying a small sum monthly via Patreon, or use Bitcoin for one time donation and badge of honor.

Reach EurAsia through HTTPS?!
site info modrobert writes: "Against my better judgment, behold, HTTPS support!

Let me know if you find any errors. The Online Shop is forced to HTTPS except for the main view, but the rest of the website can still be reached via HTTP. Thanks goes to for their free service."

Reach EurAsia through Tor Hidden Services
site info modrobert writes: "I have installed Tor hidden services and adapted the website PHP code so any user can reach EurAsia via this Onion URL:

Save the link somewhere safe as it also serves as a public key which is unique to identify EurAsia. You need either the Tor Browser or Tor (standalone) installed to access our onion URL linked above. You can download the needed tools and find more information at the official Tor Project website.

What the hidden service provide is decent anonymity through forward secrecy using relays over the Tor network and an additional layer providing a tunnel via TLS encryption point-to-point between the user and our web server. The last part is similar to HTTPS but doesn't rely on a broken system with compromised cert authorities where it is possible to spoof protected websites.

EurAsia server news roundup...
site info modrobert writes: "After a busy week the EurAsia servers have moved to new data center location, now with more disk space and lightning fast disk access featuring SSDs! First I want to thank Kimmo over at DevNull for making this possible, truly professional service from a hosting company that has been around since the dawn of internet. The kind of support you want when the going gets tough. Greetings to eightbitbubsy and Mimiz on IRC for reporting problems after the server move, thanks guys. We have also added SPF and DKIM support to the mail server which means you might finally get our emails in your inbox instead of the junk/spam folder (but don't count on it, we have some powerful enemies out there). On another happy note we just breached 11000 files in the download section, hats off to our honored uploaders!

New Site Protection Up and Running!
site info modrobert writes: "I have developed a new program called 'blockmanager' for in free pascal which spies on abusive TCP connections and tries to determine what the attacker is doing.

The system intelligently rates SQL injection attempts which are separated from plain DOS attacks, repeating offenders are blocked in the firewall automatically. There is also protection if the server runs low on memory and other functionality by constantly monitoring log files.

You can find a block in the left column on the main page titled 'Site Protection' for brief stats summary. The system is in active development, more features are added as needed to deal with the attackers as they evolve. I have some ideas for future functionality, for example, to implement machine learning using Bayesian methods as base for counter measures.

Patreon support and server hosting
site info modrobert writes: "We need your help to cover the upcoming website hosting fee for the period 2015-04-18 to 2015-10-18 (six months). You can support us through the patreon page or by making donations with crypto currency. Business has been pretty bad lately for our main sponsor, the EurAsia Online Shop, so please consider helping. If this works out we don't have to resort to crappy ads, or worse, shut the site down."

EurAsia user DB hacked...maybe...
site info After checking recent web server logs an attacker might have been able to dump some of the user passwords (MD5 hash format) and email addresses from our database, not sure if the attack was successful or not. They managed to bypass the security by overflowing/crashing the process which filters nasty database queries. We have since then secured this weakness hopefully, still checking and patching.

In any case, if your are a registered user here at EurAsia I recommend that you change your password on this site (and any other site where you use the same password), both the main site and the shop can potentially be breached.

The attacks came from IP address which looks like some server hosting in France (OVH), so the attacker is probably using a hacked account on that server to reach our server.

To change the password on the main site, go here:

site info I have added a function to download via HTTP instead of the default which is via FTP. Just look for the http download icon and click on that. This is great if you are behind a proxy or firewall preventing FTP.

New forum - Classic computers
site info I've added a technical forum for classic computers such as Amiga, Atari, Commodore 64, VIC-20, ZX-81, ZX Spectrum, ABC-80, Apple I & II, MSX, TI-99/4A. Posting about other old computers not mentioned is fine as well. Anything related to restoration, hardware upgrades, modifications, and hacks is welcome.

site info I'm happy to announce that EurAsia now have over 300 000 registered users. Check out the Members List for details. Together we have generated 87 million page views and leeched (downloaded) a total of 3 million files so far with 28TB of data passing through the ftp server, impressive indeed. This wouldn't be possible without our honored uploaders who have contributed the 9720 files as of this moment. Proudly serving console hackers for over 10 years, time flies when you have fun, thanks! We are moving into a future where hardware devices are being locked down and controlled more than ever before, so there will be plenty of interesting challenges ahead. -"When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro."

Xbox One and PS4 tech forums added
site info We have added technical forums for Xbox One and PS4, it will be interesting to see what kind of protection they come up with this time. The fantastic mainstream news about these upcoming consoles you can read elsewhere, it's mostly silly marketing tactics until hardware release anyway. The notion that both Sony and Microsoft are moving focus away from gaming towards being living room content providers makes me question if their new respective hardware qualifies as a "game console" anymore, something else comes to mind, these are more like set-top boxes with focus on DRM. The only difference is that you have to pay in full for the hardware and the service while still being locked into their rental agreement, it's a great deal (for them).

ASCII user signature added
site info While still having this strange urge to code php I adapted the user signature function to support ASCII. This means you can use ASCII style signature which will show below each forum post and in your user profile. Example below to give you an idea, though in this case it was converted from ASCII to an image using the legendary P0T-NOoDLE font on Amiga (hmm, this gives me more coding ideas). You can edit your signature here. The max format is 80 columns and 10 rows (80x10 = 800 chars). BTW: Those who already have a signature in html format (or with links) will live in shame until they replace it with a 1337 ASCII version. ;)
incredible sig example!

Avatar image upload function added
site info I've finally coded an avatar image upload function, it only took ten years or so to get around to it. You can upload/change the avatar by selecting "Your Account" in the main menu and then "Change Your Info", or just go directly here. Files in JPEG or PNG format are ok, max file size is 500kb and max image size is 1000x1000 pixels. All images are resized with aspect preserved to fit 100x100, if image is less to begin with it will remain smaller. Have fun!

reCAPTCHA download option added
site info For those who want to download a file and avoid login/registration at EurAsia it is now possible to use reCAPTCHA (human verification) instead. In the past login was required for file download mainly to prevent hotlinking of files on the FTP server, which is now partially solved via reCAPTCHA. We are also hoping this change will promote proper file linking when posting EurAsia files on other websites, forums and blogs.

Servers upgraded and more...
site info The EurAsia servers have moved to new faster hardware with more memory and disk space, also with updated supporting software. I have replaced the old phpwiki system with mediawiki and most of the data has been converted, but many pages still needs some cosmetic edits after my crude 'sed' scripts mangled the data dumps. Also, you need to register and login to the wiki system separately to add/edit pages for now. Enjoy!

This wouldn't be possible without our honored uploaders who have contributed the 5191 files currently online. Our forums remain raw and untamed with only one moderator around (me), and there really isn't much to do except moving some misplaced topics around. I think this proves how well the BERZERK concept works. In short it has been a hell of a ride since the site launched back in 2002 and I want to thank all of you for making it happen. Together we have built EurAsia by sharing knowledge in the spirit of truth and friendship. Cheers!

New Online Shop forum
site info With the recent flood of emails from worried customers I thought it might be best to open a Online Shop forum for general announcements, shop related product info, and last but not least; flame or cheer posts. In this forum you can post messages in general about the Online Shop and the products sold. Please note that this is a public forum, individual order inquiries have to be done via email by replying to the order confirmation email, any specific order questions will be ignored.

EurAsia on EFnet via browser
site info I just checked the IRC Webchat Portal over at and it works good in Mozilla/Firefox (from source it looks like support for IE/Opera/konqueror as well) using nothing but javascript in your browser, the chat prog is server side, so no frustrating connect delays or firewall problems like the common java clients. You can login here. Enter your Nickname (9 chars max), Realname, the Channel is #eur and leave Password blank. Then click the [Login] button to join the chat.
