Steps required for downgrade
1) Unpack DGF.rar using a computer.
2) Copy the file "Lv2diag.self FILE 1\Lv2diag.self" and "Modified 3.41 PUP\PS3UPDAT.PUP" to the root (top) directory of the empty USB flash drive. When complete only these files should be in the root (top) directory of the USB flash drive:
Lv2diag.self
PS3UPDAT.PUP
3) Make sure there is no Blu-ray disc inserted and remove any connected USB devices from the PS3.
4) Power off the PS3 completely for at least 10 seconds:
- If you have the fat PS3 model (old) then use the switch on the back of the console to power off.
- If you have PS3 slim then pull the power cable from the back or use an extension cord with switch on it.
5) Insert the jailbreak dongle in an USB slot on the PS3.
6) Power on the PS3 for standby mode (don't use the touch button yet):
- If you have the fat PS3 model (old) then use the switch on the back of the console to power on.
- If you have PS3 slim then insert the power cable in the back or use an extension cord with switch on it.
7) In rapid succession using one finger; first press the power button and then press the eject button on the PS3 front panel. (This is normal jailbreak button procedure, same thing). Wait for 30 seconds, if the PS3 does not power down automatically, turn it off.
8) Remove the jailbreak dongle.
9) Turn on the PS3 to see if "Factory/Service Mode" is enabled, there should be a red info box on the screen reading "Factory/Service Mode" (If you are using a component cable the image might be garbled). If this fails and it looks like normal boot, check that the jailbreak device really has downgrade code/mode, then proceed to step 4 to start over.
10) Turn off the PS3.
11) Plug the USB flash drive into the far right USB port on the PS3.
12) Power on the PS3 and you will see a black screen but the PS3 hard drive light should flash as the modified firmware v3.41 is installing, wait for ten minutes or so. Towards the end, the power button on the console start flashing green and after that the PS3 should power off, if not then turn the PS3 off.
13) Remove the USB flash drive from the PS3 and delete all the files on the USB flash drive using the computer.
14) Copy "Lv2diag.self FILE 2\Lv2diag.self" to the root (top) directory of the USB Flash Drive.
15) Plug the USB flash drive into the far right USB port on the PS3.
16) Power on the PS3, wait for 30 seconds, if the PS3 does not power down automatically, turn it off. This step takes you out of "Factory/Service Mode".
17) Power on the PS3 and verify that you have downgraded successfully to modified firmware version 3.41 by navigating to "Settings->System Settings" in the XMB and select "System Information". Also, check that the red info screen "Factory/Service Mode" is gone.
18) Remove the USB flash drive from the PS3 and delete all the files on the USB flash drive using the computer.
19) Copy the original firmware file ps3os_v3_41_second_release_PS3UPDAT.zip to X:\PS3\UPDATE\ and rename the file to PS3UPDAT.PUP (replace X: with your flash drive letter).
20) Perform a local System Update (unplug the PS3 network cable to be sure): Settings->System Update->Update via Storage Media, and start the install.
Done!
21) Optional step: If you wish to proceed and downgrade to a lower firmware version like v3.15, perform the steps 2 through 17 but replace the "Modified 3.41 PUP\PS3UPDAT.PUP" with the original firmware file you want and make sure the file name is PS3UPDAT.PUP on the USB flash drive. NOTE: This is only possible when the console is on firmware v3.41 (not v3.50).
