General Information

GT5 is 100% perfectly functional now. 3.50 EBOOT.BIN has been decrypted, edited, signed, then encrypted so that now it works on 3.41 and it works PERFECTLY. There are no freezes, no crashes, no lock ups, no issues whatsoever outside of standard "version 1.00, lol, need patches!" game issues. If you're getting freezing during License tests, or certain game events, then a simple fix is all that's needed;

Run the game under "PATCHED MODE". This may be called various different names under different managers, but they are functionally the same.

Yep, it's THAT simple. Here are some instructions kindly compiled by users on P-Scene. I recommend using the latest version of MultiManager (it really has come storming along, so much so that it's now my primary manager)

WARNING

Patched Mode does NOT properly work with the PL3 payload. Don't ask me why, it just doesn't (which would be why Gaia doesn't even allow activation if it detects PL3). If you want to play GT5 properly, with license testing and all, THEN YOU MUST BE RUNNING HERMES v4B. If you are NOT running Hermes v4B then I will NOT help you. It causes too much bloody stress trying to fight against you all. If you've managed to run the game with PL3 then impressive, congratulations, good for you, what-ho old chap! But don't come running to me if you eventually run into issues.

PL3 IS CRAP. USE HERMES v4B INSTEAD.

1st Note

Judging by all indications, including my OWN testing, the best combination to use right now is one of the Hermes v4B payloads and either Gaia Manager or MultiMAN. I personally prefer MultiMAN, but both MM and Gaia have USB/Memory Patch functionality -- AND -- they both automatically edit PARAM.SFO as and when required. I strongly suggest making sure you're running Hermes v4B and the latest version of your Backup Manager. This will resolve the majority of issues and glitches you may be facing.

2nd Note

If you're running a spoofing payload (ie Hermes v4B-PSN or something that spoofs your firmware number to appear as 3.50 or 3.55) then you do NOT need to modify your PARAM.SFO. If you aren't running a spoofing payload (your firmware appears as 3.41) then you DO need to modify your PARAM.SFO.

Do NOT edit this file with Notepad, you'll destroy it. Either use PS3 SFO Editor v0.80 or just leave it to your manager to perform this step automatically. Recent versions of both Gaia *and* MultiMAN have this functionality.

3rd Note

Do NOT attempt to transfer/dump the game to your EXTERNAL drive. It will not function due to GT.VOL being 11GB+ Incidentally, do NOT attempt to split the file for use on external drives, as doing so will render the game UNPLAYABLE. I'm serious. I don't care what you "heard" or what you misunderstood; games with split files DO NOT WORK. PERIOD. Split4G and any manager-specific splitting apps are SOLELY for storing large files on external or for moving large files from PC to PS3 without use of FTP.

Once again; SPLIT-FILE GAMES DO NOT WORK.

Instructions

Gran Turismo 5 ver1.00

Download here: US EBOOT.bin (BCUS98114)
Download here: EUR EBOOT.bin (BCES00569)

Installation GT5 proper way per FTP

1. Clean all GT5 Data if any is left on your PS3
2. Start multiMan 1.12.00 and press R1 into Patch Mode
3. Connect from your PC to the PS3
4. Transfer the Game to your PS3 (in Patch Mode!) including the new EBOOT.BIN
5. After transfer, press R1 to leave Patch Mode
6. Press again R1 to enter Patch Mode (Gamelist rehashes)
7. Insert any BDVD Game
8. Mount the Game
9. Start it from BDVD

Now, if you already have the game on your machine - it's a simple fix without all those steps. Just load up MultiMan (or whatever manager you prefer) and enter PATCHED MODE, in this case just hit R1 and it will rehash the database and enable USB Fix mode. One of two things will happen, either the game list will refresh and you'll see all your games ready to load - or you won't. They'll be blank. If they're blank, or you are missing games now, it means you need to run the PL3-Fix app which fixes the visibility/modification permissions on every file.

Download here: PL3-Fix app

Stick that on your USB and install it via the packages menu on XMB. Once done simply run the "fixPermissions" app and wait a while. The screen will go black and the HDD indicator will go nuts for a minute or so, then dump you back to XMB afterwards. Once that's finished all your Backup Managers can now modify files properly, which means MultiMan/Gaia/whatever can activate R1-USB Patch Mode. Another note of importance is that in the future, when transferring more games to your PS3 via USB HDD or FTP, make sure you're running a manager that has FTP built in and Patched Mode ENABLED, this will negate the need to run fixPermissions.

Lastly, if you're getting "Error 80010019" then follow the steps provided by P-Scene member Thantelius

If you're experiencing the "An error occurred during the start operation (80010019)" message during the GT5 boot, just do the following:

1. Shut down your PS3
2. Remove your JB Dongle
3. Turn on the PS3
4. Insert a BD Game
5. Launch It
6. Turn off the system
7. Retry using your favorite backup manager (in my case OM 2.1I L1+L2 Patches)

=)

ENJOY FLAWLESS GRAN TURISMO 5 WITH ZERO ISSUES. Just don't update it yet! If/when you get the "Update 1.05 is available" prompt; Hit O and ignore it. If you update, you'll overwrite the hacked EBOOT.BIN with a legitimate one that still requires 3.50 to work and you'll end up with a black screen or an error message about requiring 3.50.

TL;DR Brief version

new copy

1. Load Manager, activate Patched Mode. (L1 for Gaia/R1 for MultiMAN)
2. Dump GT5 from BR or transfer to PS3 over FTP. Overwrite EBOOT.BIN in "PS3_GAME\USRDIR" with the hacked EBOOT.BIN.
3. Play.

existing copy

1. Install "PL3_Fix"
2. Run it.
3. Load Manager, activated Patched Mode. (L1 for Gaia, R1 for MultiMAN)
4. Play.

existing copy 2

If you're still getting the Silver GT logo crash after following the above steps, drop back to XMB and delete ALL GameData for Gran Turismo 5, then retry.

Final comment

If you still can't get the game to work, then you're DOING IT WRONG. Simple.
