PS3 Operating System releases (aka PS3 firmware updates)

This page was created to keep track of Sony's system software updates for the PS3 (retail version, not devkit) by checksum and size, to avoid confusion when hacking or downloading a specific version from the net, in other words to make sure you got the correct file. Granted this info hasn't been of much use so far, but I kept on collecting it in the hope of a working hack to be released some day. Now thanks geohot's PS3 Glitch Hack this info might actually become useful.
General info
- So far the OS/firmware releases are multi region (USA/PAL/JAP), same data/file (bit for bit) is used for all consoles across regions.
- The official download links from Sony provided here are probably broken for the older releases, they pretty much do what they want. ;) If you want to add working links to the "Download" table, go ahead, but please leave the official download link for reference, even if broken.
- The original update filename is PS3UPDAT.PUP and PS3PATCH.PUP for the new incremental releases introduced with v3.41 which are marked "inc" in the version table.
- If you have a problem finding any of the releases listed here and really need it for hacking purposes which will benefit the community as well, then modrobert can hook you up (bribes also work).
